Thanks for helping with Guerilla Gardening

Thanks to everyone who helped with the Guerilla Gardening last Saturday 22nd. We collected lots of rubbish, collected even more leaves and planted some daffodils ready for spring. Lambeth Council really ought to be doing this work, it’s quite scandalous they don’t even do basic stuff like litter picking

We also inspired two of our gardeners to write blogs about it. Andrea Gibbons wrote this piece for the Brixton Buzz. And John Mills wrote this piece for the British Society of Gerontology.

Watch this space for details of what happens next in the campaign

Our garden needs tidying up for winter. Lambeth are supposed to be doing it, but haven’t done a good job.

Volunteers for Lambeth Housing Activists will be coming on Saturday 22nd to help clear up our garden and show the council how public services should be run.

Garden Clean Up
Saturday 22nd November
10am – 1pm
Leigham Court Sheltered Housing, 269 Leigham Court Road

Everyone is welcome to join them. You don’t need gardening experience, you just need to care about public services.

You can download publicity here

(Note: This is an activist event. The aim of this event is to show what our garden could like if the council cared about the property rather than tried to demolish it. It is not to get volunteer labour to replace vital public services)

Save Cressingham Gardens

Save Cressingham Gardens

It’s not just Leigham Court Lambeth Council is trying to demolish. The Cressingham Gardens esate, like Leigham Court, is a really well designed piece of 1970s architecture. And Cressingham Gardens, like Leigham Court, is threatened with complete demolition

The local residents group have called a demonstration this Saturday which we’re proud to support.

Demonstrate – Save Cressingham Gardens
Saturday 1st November
Assemble 10.30 outside the Rotunda hall to leave at 11am

We will be walking down the main road to the Lambeth Town Hall in Brixton.

All welcome. You don’t need to live on the estate, you simply need to care about affordable housing.
